Potential Primary Immunodeficiencies Partnership Project
Dear CHW Team,
I trust you are well. I'm Geoffrey Otieno, a first year Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health student at Virginia Tech. I'm currently undertaking my lab rotation with Dr. Nick Rider, a Clinical Immunologist working with Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) patients at Carilion Clinic. These patients experience numerous challenges including delayed diagnosis, referral, and treatment. Dr. Rider and I are seeking ways to engage Community Health Workers to support early diagnosis and treatment of PI patients, especially in resource limited areas where access to care may be challenging. As a first step, we're seeking an opportunity to talk to a few CHWs for a short amount of time to assess the gaps and opportunities for educational programming for PI patients. Our hope is that we might partner with CHW Strength to build further capacity in supporting these patients through CHWs.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to receiving your feedback.
Sincerely,
Geoffrey.
