Wk6Day2: 2 Peter 1:6
2 Peter 1:6 paints a picture of spiritual growth that builds layer by layer. Like a carefully crafted staircase leading us closer to God’s heart. Once we gain knowledge, we are called to apply it with self-control (the ability to pause, pray, and choose God’s way when our flesh wants otherwise) But self-control alone isn’t enough; we need perseverance, the steady strength to keep showing up, keep choosing well, even when it’s hard. And as we do, we become more like Christ…godliness begins to shape our lives from the inside out.
Think of this journey like baking bread from scratch (which I have watched others do). Knowledge is understanding the ingredients; self-control is waiting patiently while the dough rises, resisting the urge to rush the process. Perseverance is kneading again and again, even when it’s tiring. Only then does the bread rise perfectly in the oven…just as godliness rises in us through patient faithful effort.
