Why breastfeeding?
August is National Breastfeeding Month, which promotes lactation as an important pathway for infant nutrition and raises awareness about the support new parents need in order to breastfeed.
If you run or work for a local business, you can show support for breastfeeding and chestfeeding parents by requesting a “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” sticker from #RVABreastfeeds.
Nutrition support is most useful when it begins early in a pregnancy or an infant’s life. If you are expecting or have recently given birth, you can enroll in the Virginia WIC program to receive breastfeeding and other nutrition services.
