Eastern Virginia AHEC Scholars
The Virginia AHEC Scholars Program recruits, trains, and supports a diverse group of students from across the state, creating a multidisciplinary team of health professionals committed to community service and healthcare transformation in the United States.
Students should have a current interest in rural or underserved health care and be currently enrolled in a health professions degree or certificate program and be two years from program or degree completion. This includes but is not limited to students in medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, nurse practitioner, nursing, physician assistant, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and public/population health programs.
The secondary disciplines, such as BSN or ADN students, physical therapy assistant students, and many more allied health programs, must apply as a "CHW" and complete the CHW curriculum to be eligible for the Scholars Program.
