iHOPE - Purpose

National CHW Awareness Week

Greetings,

Purpose can sound like such a big word. Sometimes we imagine it has to be a major calling, position, or movement that we will finally discover someday, yet I have come to appreciate how often purpose reveals itself in ordinary moments.

It can happen in a conversation, when someone thanks you for listening, or when a resource reaches someone at exactly the right time. It can appear in a difficult meeting where someone finally speaks up or in a moment when you quietly recognize, My presence here matters.

That is what I want us to reflect on today. Instead of asking, “What impressive thing have I accomplished?” consider asking, When have I seen the meaning of my contribution?

Our Scripture for iHOPE (Purpose) says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

There is something powerful about the word workmanship. It reminds me that purpose is connected to who we are, not merely what we produce.

Your lived experience can carry purpose, your ability to build trust can carry purpose, and your compassion can carry purpose. Your willingness to speak can carry purpose AND your ability to sit quietly and truly listen can carry purpose too.

My purpose moves me forward

Today, tell us about a moment when you saw your purpose in action. What happened and what did that moment affirm for you?

SHARE HOPE: Share your story

GIVE HOPE: Read another CHW’s story and leave them a Purpose Affirmation by telling them what you see and celebrate in their contribution

Sometimes we need another person to reflect back to us what they can see. Today, let’s do that for one another.

with gratitude,
