One pillar, One practice, and One week in motion

September 8th - September 14th

Welcome to our 09/08/2026 edition of STRENGTH™ in Motion, a weekly space where we will explore one STRENGTH™ pillar, one STRENGTH™ practice, share what is happening behind the scenes, & invite you into upcoming opportunities

One STRENGTH Pillar

Hope: Look forward with confident expectation

Hope is more than simply wishing for something better to happen. It is choosing to look forward with confident expectation, believing that there are still meaningful possibilities ahead of us and allowing that belief to influence how we approach where we are today.

This pillar invites us to reflect on what we are looking forward to, what strengthens our confidence in what lies ahead, and what possibilities we are willing to believe in. Hope gives us space to imagine growth, change, connection, and opportunities that may not be fully visible yet.

To live with hope is to acknowledge where we are while believing there is still something worth moving toward. It means recognizing that we may not know exactly how everything will unfold, but we can still move with intention, remain open to possibility, and trust that the steps we take today can contribute to what comes next. When we look forward with confident expectation, hope becomes more than something we feel, it becomes part of how we choose to move forward.

"Hope gives tomorrow a voice before tomorrow arrives"

Stephanie Toney

Take a moment to reflect on what it means for you to look forward with confident expectation through three areas:

  1. Expectation: What is something ahead that gives you a sense of excitement, encouragement, or anticipation?

  2. Confidence: What gives you confidence that something meaningful is ahead?

  3. Possibility: What could become possible if you gave yourself permission to believe in it?

Choose one thing that gives you hope and reflect on why it matters to you

Choose one thing you believe is possible and intentionally move towards it this week.

Hope can grow through the small choices we make each day. Revisit a goal, make meaningful connection, encourage someone, explore a new opportunity, or take a moment to recognize the progress already happening around you.

"Hope multiplies every time it’s shared"

 Behind the STRENGTH™

This week, we are choosing Hope as we reflect on what it means to look forward with confident expectation. Hope allows us to see beyond where we are today and remain open to the opportunities, growth, and possibilities that may be waiting ahead.

Hope is showing up behind the scenes when we keep believing, even when we don’t have every answer. It can be found in the goals we continue working toward, the encouragement we offer one another, the opportunities we remain open to, and the confidence that reminds us there is still more ahead.

We are creating space to name what we are hopeful for, recognize the progress already taking place, and encourage one another to keep looking forward. Hope reminds us that possibility can exist even in uncertainty, and when we carry that expectation into our lives, work, and communities, we create room for something new to emerge.

“Every person who discovers hope makes the path easier for someone walking behind them”

One Week Ago & In Upcoming Weeks

CHWStrength was proud to attend VDH’s Nourished in Community Networking Lunch & Learn in celebration of National Community Health Worker Awareness Week!

We enjoyed connecting with fellow Community Health Workers and community partners while celebrating the incredible work CHWs are doing across Virginia. A special congratulations to the CHWs who were recognized with Certificates of Appreciation for their dedication and continued commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of their communities.

Thank you to VDH for creating a space to connect, celebrate, and recognize the impact of Community Health Workers!

We had the opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate alongside fellow Community Health Workers and community partners at Champions of Community: Central Virginia CHW Day!

Throughout the day, we engaged in leadership conversations, team-building activities, breakout sessions, focus groups, and lightning talks that created space for shared learning and meaningful connection.

We left feeling inspired by the experiences, ideas, and passion shared throughout the room and grateful for opportunities that bring us together to strengthen relationships, amplify CHW voices, and continue building stronger communities across Virginia.
